Teen riding electric motorcycle hospitalized after rear-ending vehicle

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A 14-year-old boy riding an electric motorcycle remains hospitalized after rear-ending a vehicle in Kapolei Tuesday evening, Honolulu police said.
The incident happened just before 6 p.m. near Kapolei Parkway and Kamaaha Avenue.
HPD said that the boy rear-ended a car that was attempting to make a left turn across a marked bike lane. Subsequently, he was ejected onto the road.
He was taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition, officials said.
The driver of the vehicle was uninjured.
Authorities said neither speed, drugs, or alcohol appeared to be contributing factors in the collision.
It’s unclear if the teen was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
